Red Light Ticket Fail to Stop – Section 144(18) of Highway Traffic Act
- Every driver approaching a traffic signal with the control signal showing red, shall stop vehicle and should not proceed until green signal is shown.
- This offence carries 3 demerit points and a set fine of $265.
- There are several circumstances and subsections under section 144 of the HTA
- Red light camera tickets (section 144.18) go against the owner of the vehicle and therefore does not impact your drivers licence
All convictions will stay on your driving record for 3 years and could affect your insurance rating. (except red light camera as noted)
